UMB Financial Fairly Valued As Is, But Deployable Capital Is A Big Potential Driver

If you simply look at what a company is today, or what it has been in the past, you’re going to miss out on a lot of stocks. Yes, the past does matter and the past should always inform your views on a company, but while your rearview mirror is an important piece of equipment, driving only with your rearview mirror is going to lead to some problems.

Keep that in mind with UMB Financial (UMBF). This small Midwestern bank is fairly valued as is, but the company has meaningful surplus capital that management wants to deploy into growing the business (including M&A). If management can find some good targets, and expand lending, there could easily be double-digit annualized upside from here.
